Nanjing is one of China's most important commercial, cultural, and industrial centers. The city has a history spanning nearly 2,500 years, and in recent years has seen rapid development.

 

Administrative Divsions
Nanjing occupies a ground space of 6598 square kilometers. As of the end of June 2002, the city administered 11 districts and 2 counties.In these districts and counties, there are 64 subdistrict offices, 63 towns and 1 township.
Culture & History
As a famous historic city, Nanjing ranks with Xi'an, Luoyang, Beijing, Hangzhou and Kaifeng as six major ancient Chinese capitals.Nanjing is one of the oldest and most historically important cities in China.
Geographic Location
Nanjing is situated in Eastern China, along the lower reaches of the Yangtze (Changjiang) river, approximately a 4 hour drive from Shanghai. Nanjing is the largest city in Jiangsu province.
Economy
A wide range of business sectors are known domestically and internationally as forerunners in their fields, and the Nanjing municipal government has repeatedly taken the initiative in developing new areas of the city.
Agriculture
The land of Nanjing has a variety of geomorphic features and is rich in natural resources, suitable for growing many different crops and forestry products,and for raising domestic animals and aquatic products.
Science & Technology
Nanjing is one of China's important bases of scientific and technological research and development,ranking the 3rd among all the big cities in China in the overall strength in science and technology.
