njeconmic zones.jpgNanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone was established on September 18, 1992 and is currently a state-level economic and technological development zone and export processing zone.

In the Zone are located the state-level Nanjing Xingang High-Tech Industrial Park, the state-level Cross-Strait Scientific and Industrial Park, the Scientific and Industrial Park for Universities and Colleges of Jiangsu, and Nanjing BT and Medicine Industrial Park. All the enterprises in the Zone enjoy the preferential policies of state-level high-tech industrial zones. At present, the Zone has formed such high-tech industrial groups as IT, BT and medicine, fine chemistry and new materials.

Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone lies at the northeastern suburbs of Nanjing and in close neighborhood of Xinshengwei Port, the largest river port of China, and No. 2 Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge and is 5 km away from the urban area of Nanjing. Its short-term planning area stands at 13.37 km2 while its long-term planning area stands at 30 km2.

There are found functional sections in the Zone, namely, industry area, bonded area, financial and trade area and comprehensive service area.

The development objectives of the Zone are: to rely on the port, take international trade as the leader and advanced technology industries as the base, give priority to setting up export enterprises that generate foreign exchange, insist on integration of science, industry and trade, and make energetic efforts to turn the Zone into a modernized, multi-functional, environmentally excellent and more open port area and economic center in the 21st century.
