First method: a high school graduate with a TOEFL score of 550 or an IELTS
score of 6.0 can directly apply and study at a University in Canada. This method
is relatively hard for Chinese students because Canada's Department of Education
considers a diploma from a Chinese high school as only 24 academic credits,
while the demands for entering a Canadian University are 30 academic credits. At
present, Canada's famous universities usually will not directly accept Chinese
high school graduates, however a small number of institutes of higher education
have opened up their doors somewhat.
Method 2: attend a language institute, and after completing language courses
and other basic courses, apply to and attend a publicly established Canadian
university. Although this method requires a bit more money, it is good because
students already have Canadian academic records and English scores when they
apply and attend a university, therefore the assurance that they will succeed is
greater, and they also have the opportunity to attend a famous school.
Method 3: apply to and study at a college that provides transfer credits from
courses that can be used at a university, after two years of courses, directly
apply and enter a university as a third year student. Although this method takes
about as much time and money as method two, it is however more
direct. |
