Plum is the city flower of Nanjing. People in Nanjing have the custom to stroll among the plum trees and appreciate the blossoms when the trees are blooming.

The festival is held in late February to mid March every year, which has been held for nine years running. During the festival, series of tourism, commercial, trading and cultural activities are conducted.
