This stele is located in the opposite of Nanjing Circuitry and
Equipment Factory.
Meitangang is one of the sites of Nanjing Massacre by Japanese
invaders. On December 17, 1937, Japanese army searched for and arrested Chinese
unarmed soldiers and civilians adding up to over 3000. They put them at
Meitangang in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and shot them in
machine-gun. The wounded but not dead were all detained in the nearby thatching
and burned alive. Forty-five employees from capital electricity factory
died in this massacre.
