www.odtn.com 2005-12-2 16:06:51

Yesterday, at the news conference held by the Prevention and Cure HQ of Major Animal Epidemic-diseases, An Kaigen, the director of Nanjing Agriculture and Forestry Bureau, said: "Directing against the increasingly serious prevention and control situation of bird flu, Nanjing has rapidly entered into the state before the going battle. At present, the number of check-up stations has reached 40. In these days, we will strictly control trades of live poultries and kill poultries bred in the city proper, hence trying our best to ensure the health of residents."

As introduced, after the breakout of bird flu in Tianchang, Anhui province, from Oct.26th to Nov.3rd, Nanjing emergently immunized 792 thousand poultries in 28 villages of 6 towns near Anhui province, hence forming an immunity and separation zone.

Up to now, the number of poultries in stock has increased to 9.96 million, and 97.97 ones have been immunized, hence realizing the immunity density of 98.8%.

According to the requirement of the Prevention and Cure HQ of Major Animal Epidemic-diseases, Nanjing has set up check-up stations in all main lines.

By the end of yesterday, the number of check-up stations has increase to 40 from 27 before. Directing against varied roads in towns and villages, related directors should strictly check up to prevent poultries and related products from Anhui province and other epidemic regions entering into Nanjing.

In addition, the number of supervision stations for migrant birds has increase to such 6 in Hongshan Zoon, Xuanwu Lake, Jinniu Lake, Shijiu Lake, Gucheng Lake and Laoshan Forest Park.
