Chang Zhiqiang is one of survivors in Nanjing Massacre. On July 26th, he
watched "Nanking" for the second time. On July 3rd, he once attended the first
issue ceremony of "Nanking" in Beijing. But when he watched this documentary in
Nanjing, he had different feels.
In 1937, winter, Nanjing was occupied by Japanese invaders. In that year,
Chang Zhiqiang was only ten years old. In the documentary, he told of tragedies
which happened in his family in 1937. "When we learnt about those cruel truths,
I wept, and our translator also wept", said Bill, the director of "Nanking". At
the showing scene yesterday, many audiences wept.
Time couldn't efface the history. 70 years have past, but those cruel
experiences still impress in his memory. "Those scenes that the city burned by
war fire, and my family members and our compatriots killed by Japanese invaders
always suddenly strike me."
"To tell of own experiences during that war as a witness is the obligation of
all survivors in Nanjing Massacre", said Chang: "I will tell of the truth to
people all over the world and call for peace and against wars. Historical
tragedies can't repeat absolutely!" |
