On October 20, the first batch of Top 100 Chinese tourism competition cities was released. Nanjing ranks as the fifth in China and the first in Jiangsu by right of resource and environment predominance.

Director General Xuhong of Nanjing Bureau of Tour said, in 2005, the total tourism income of Nanjing reached 37.9 billion RMB, and the tourism industry earned US$576 million of foreign exchanges.

Xuhong introduced: "the industrial scale and economic gross of Nanjing tour account for 1/3 of that of Jiangsu". As of 2005, there are 8 five-star hotels, 396 travel agencies, and 10360 guiders in Nanjing. The Mausoleum of Sun Yatsen, Yuhuatai and the Confucius Temple and other scenic spots received many tourists.

The total tourism income of Nanjing increases with 19.45% of speed. Number of tourists increased 16.63% and the average tourism income increased 19.33%. The earning volume of foreign exchanges of tourism increased 22.79%.

During this Plum Blossom Festival, Korea media delegation toured Qinhuai River and praised: "We went to Venice and Seine and there are famous beautiful water scenery. But Qinhuai River is unique. We appreciate the unique charm of this historical and cultural province." According to the statistic by Bureau of Tour, from January to July this year, Nanjing received 535 thousand foreign tourists.

Tour has become the new power of enhancing the influence and competition of international market of Jiangsu. The first Nanjing general tourism planning gained investment of Hispanic Government and has become the first city introducing investment of foreign government among historical and cultural cities. Mingxiao Mausoleum scenic area applied for the world heritage successfully and a world cultural heritage is added in Jiangsu. According to the statistic, from January to September, the total tourism income of Nanjing reached 35.11 billion RMB, an increase of 21.1%.
