An outstanding student of Harvard works in Jiangsu Kun Opera Troupe

He comes from Canada and his name is Josh Stenberg. But in China, his name is Shi Junshan. He is an outstanding student of Harvard. He is good at 6 languages and he has toured over 40 countries. He is a "World Citizen". He came to Jiangsu Kun Opera Troupe and became the first foreign employee.

"World Citizen" is crazy about Kun Opera

A reporter met Shi Junshan in Jiangsu Kun Opera Troupe. He was busy translating the new drama.

Shi Junshan went to over 40 countries such as Russia and Spain. Then he became a teacher in a middle school in Beijing. After a year, he studied in Harvard University and majored in East Asia Language Culture. In 2004, Shi Junshan studied in Nanjing University and majored in Ancient Chinese. At that time, he has become the "World Citizen" and he was good at English, Chinese, French, German, Spanish and Russian. Shi Junshan favored Kun Opera in Nanjing University.

In September 2005, Shi Junshan graduated from Nanjing University. He found vice-dean Wangbin of Jiangsu Kun Opera Troupe and wanted to popularize Kun Opera.

In March 2006, the "Peach Blossom Fan" was performed in Beijing. The famous poet Yu Guangzhong went to Beijing to enjoy it from Taiwan. He praised the English titles of the drama. These excellent titles were translated by Shi Junshan. At present, Shi Junshan has translated Chinese titles of over 30 dramas into English.

"Kun Opera should be performed in foreign countries"

In Kun Opera Troupe, Shi Junshan gains 1500 RMB of salary every month. But he loves his work and Kun Opera.

Besides of translating titles, Shi Junshan publicizes Kun Opera to Chinese in Chinese and to foreigners in English in universities, colleges and travel agencies in Nanjing. At present, over 40 foreigners have become the familiars of Kun Opera Troupe. The "Peach Blossom Fan" will be tour performed in Switzerland next year.
