Ganxi Former Residence becomes Folk-custom Panorama

Cultural relics with 20-year history to appear

According to the introduction by a leading figure of Ganxi Former Residence, Ganxi Former Residence has been upgraded to national cultural relic protection unit. It will be open to the public on June 18.

Yunjin embroidery, gold foil, carving, lantern, old electric iron and tea barrel¡­the display collects many cultural relics. Vice-director general Yang Xinhua of Nanjing Bureau of Cultural Relic told the reporter that Cultural Relic Department has collected many cultural relics of folk custom for 20 years. These folk custom cultural relics will be open to the public.

Nanjingeses taking "certification of espousal" before marriage

In folk-custom exhibition hall, there are a set of wedding items on display from espousal to bridal chamber. The reporter saw a "certification of espousal" during the Republic of China. Different from modern certification, this one has not legal force.

Intangible heritages of Nanjing appear

Children can see display of crystalline candied haw, colorful lanterns, raree show, capturing katydid, ferrule and cotton candy etc. There will be shadow play and puppet show held in the exhibition hall.

In addition, four national and 16 provincial intangible heritages such as Yunjin embroidery, gold foil, carving and lanterns will appear in Ganxi Former Residence. 25 kinds of folk handicrafts will be displayed. A wooden model of Nanjing in 1950 will remind many Nanjingeses of life in those days.
