Andre: Having a party at home

At 6:30p.m. yesterday, a pet shop in Jiangning Area was covered by music and laughter. Andre, a 26-year old young guy from Australia, held a Christmas party at his own shop. As informed, Andre has been in Nanjing for five years. He married a Chinese girl and spent five Christmas in China.

But Andre told the reporter, he never felt Christmas elegance in China, but he still invited over 20 Chinese and foreign friends to have a party at his shop. "This night, I have made pies, pudding and fruit salad for you", said Andre. In fact, what he misses very much is the toast turkey made by his mother.

When he was a child, he always wrote a letter to Christmas Father for the gift. "Before ten years old, I truly trust that Christmas Father is in existence. But in fact, Christmas Father is acted by father and mother", said Andre with smile.

In Australia, on Dec.24th, parents always go back home early and children look forward to opening the gifts. In the morning on Dec.25th, they go to church first and have a party with relatives. They eat toast turkey, vegetable and Christmas cake. They always spend Christmas at home, but Chinese celebrate Christmas with friends.

Yan Defu: The first Christmas in Nanjing

Yan Defu is from Germany. He has lived in China for seven years. In the past, he went back to Germany and spent Christmas with his family every year.

"A week ago, I came back to China from Germany after my holiday, so this Christmas I stayed in Nanjing", said Yan: "This is the first time that I spend Christmas in Nanjing. Though all department stores hold activities and streets are full of people, I can't feel the elegance of Christmas. In western countries, people always spend Christmas with family, just like the Spring Festival in China."

In Germany, on Dec.24th, children can choose and decorate their Christmas tree in forest with their parents. They hang various decorations and chocolates on the tree. In the evening, all people go to the church and then back home to enjoy a sumptuous dinner together.
