Built on the site of the former residence of Mr. Fu Baoshi (132 Hanhou Rd,
Nanjing), the Fu Baoshi Museum celebrates Mr. Fu Baoshi, an artist of the
traditional Chinese painting, a scholar in epigraphy and the history of fine
arts, and an educator in teaching fine arts.
The main structure of the
Museum is a two-storey Western house built on a hill. Mr. Fu Baoshi moved to
live in this place in 1963 until he died on September 29, 1965.
Mr. FuĦŻs
studio is kept the way it was when he lived. It is fitted with his desk, bronze
penholder, brush pot, paper, pens and brushes. The two steles, which were
inscriped respectively by Guo Moruo and Zi Yanmin, read asĦ°the Study of the
Southern StoneĦħand hang the wall. Opposite the desk hang a grand-size landscape
painting which was left unfinished. |
